AS2: Finally in Motion
Tuesday, 11 May 2010 02:19
First, I want to start with a recognition of your patience. AS2 has gotten off to a slow start and I haven't heard a nagging comment from anyone. I had plans to kick off with the stuff you guys would appreciate most (new forums), so you would have something tangible to enjoy during the weeks when my work would be less visible (technical stuff). Instead, I was unexpectedly slammed with work at my "real" job for the last two weeks. I've been exhausted and pretty much a lazy, worthless slob during my downtime. So you've been left waiting for a while. Thanks for being so patient.
I'm finally getting my act together, after spending the better part of two days in bed. (I was REALLY tired.) So here's what I've been up to:
* Tonight, I finished up the three new forums that were housed under that "construction" banner. They're open and ready to go. The descriptions and sticky posts should answer any questions you have about them. Over the next few weeks, the Mod team will be gradually moving the appropriate threads from our archive into those forums.
* You probably noticed the Forum Index page was completely re-ordered a few days ago. We had to figure out where to best place the new forums, and took the opportunity to reorganize everything. The new set up is designed to categorize the forums for easier navigation. The Pub and the "miscellaneous" forums are at the top. The "Support" category houses the forums that exist for...well, for support of various types. The contents of "The Rec Center" haven't changed, but the order of the forums therein was adjusted slightly. The Tech Support forum is now under the "Help Desk" Category, since the word "support" was used elsewhere.
* TCFL has had some staff changes recently. Two staff members have elected to leave the team, and a third is on a hiatus due to time constraints in her real life. Those changes, plus the addition of three new forums, made adding to the staff a necessity. In the process, we also changed our moderator distribution set up to ease the work load on everyone. What you see on The Team list and Forum Index page now is pretty much final. There will of course be changes as time goes on, but we've settled everything for the time being. So, without further ado...
Admins
Skeeter has joined the Admin team. Moving from "wearing" green to red has been a pretty smooth transition thus far, but I'm easing him into the "crazy emails to answer" part of the job, so if he runs screaming in the next few weeks, you'll know why!
Skeeter has once again taken the reins of the Cafe Press Shop he started for TCFL two years ago. His other duties will mostly be as a Forums Manager.
GreyDrakkon and I are now handling the Publishing & Projects end of the Admin work. But you have just me to blame for not getting a new article last week. We talked about it. I told her I'd publish last Tuesday... and then I promptly forgot about it.
It might take us a while to get into the habit of publishing every Tuesday and our erratic work schedules -especially mine- will frequently result in evening posts rather than the prompt morning (US time) publishing you've grown accustomed to. Consider that your warning.
Mods
As previously stated, nearly every moderator has moved to a new (or adjusted) assignment. We've also added three new voices to the team. Please give a warm and supportive welcome to Washedinblackk, Force10, and Minergal.
More Later.
~Stacey
